I went for a walk in the woods today.
Up the path
Alongside the stream
Which rushed its way downhill
Until it found a deep pool
In which to rest for a while
Before going on.
There was no need to speak.
The steam said all that needed to be said.
And silence filled the woods around me
And my soul, as well.
Any words of mine would have been out of place.
An intrusion.
Upsetting the delicate balance between silence and stream.
I went for a walk in the woods today.
And, for a moment, at least,
I was where
I needed to be.
