I think for most of us
Most of the time
Our world is pretty small.
Our home.
Our yard.
Our neighborhood.
The town in which we grew up.
It is what we see
And who we see
Each and every day.
It is where we live.
This week I have had the opportunity to spend time on the Maine coast.
Not quite at the eastern most point of the United States, but almost.
And, each day I have spent time looking east.
Across the bay.
Past the small islands which dot the horizon.
Out onto the Atlantic Ocean.
If the sky is clear I see maybe a mile.
Maybe a bit more.
It is hard for me to tell.
One mile of the roughly 3000 mile expanse of water.
And, for a moment
Until immensity takes over
And I look down at where I stand
I catch a glimpse of how large our world really is.
And how small my world really is.

I think it was Gallaleo who determined that the earth was round by watching ships go below the horizon line as they went farther out. Then a Pope excommunicated him for thinking outside the box! What was he thinking? or not! We both have had Covid (mild) and the beat goes on! Our little Westminster Presbyterian church continues to struggle on! We have an interim Pastor who is doing her best out of retirement. Time to sit on the front porch. You two and dog are more than welcome here any time your travels bring you to our area.Marylea and Phil
