I am supposed to be writing today.
At least that is what the reminder that popped up on my computer just told me.
When I decided to begin to write a blog I told myself I write at least three times a week using that commitment to force myself to stop for a few minutes every other day and to pay attention. To pay attention to my life. Pay attention to what was happening around me. And, pay attention to where and how that which I know and name as God was present in both.
Sometimes it is easy.
A headline in the news makes me angry or sad.
A friend’s comment catches me off guard and pushes me towards some new place.
A neighbor stops me on the Village street to ask a question…sometimes inconsequential. Sometimes surprisingly serious.
And sometimes it is hard.
Like today.
When I feel tired and used up.
More empty than full.
More going through the motions than anything else.
And, yet the reminder comes to write.
To lift my head and to open my eyes and to pay attention to life and world.
For no matter…
How I am right now is how I am right now.
And, this is the moment I have.
