We are told
Over and over
We are not safe.
They are different.
They are dangerous.
They are not like us.
We are told
Over and over
There is not enough room.
Not enough work.
They are mooching.
Taking what is ours.
We are told
Over and over again
Their religion is false.
Their religion is violent.
Just look at them.
All of which is a lie.
But if it is said over and over long enough
Said over and over loud enough
Will you begin to believe it?
Will we?
All of which stands counter to the witness of the faith I profess
Which, amidst all the shouting, whispers
Reminding me
Reminding us
That if I slide over just a bit
There will be plenty of room at the table.
And enough for all.
