As Jesus came near Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it, saying, “If you had only recognized the things that make for peace! But, now they are hidden from your eyes.”
– Luke 19: 41-42
A bomb explodes in Brussels.
Like it exploded in…
Paris, and
Aleppo, and
Ankara, and
Oklahoma City, and
Selma, Alabama.
Killing many.
And maiming more.
The innocent.
The passer-by.
The mother on her way to work.
The father saying good-bye to his children.
My mind searches for a reason
In a desperate, but futile effort
To make sense of the senseless.
And, my heart breaks.

March 22, 2016 at 4:57 pmPaul, there is no making sense of something that defies the logic of a compassionate, caring person. For me, the Islamic State represents Fear and Desperation to hold onto an old, out-dated, broken, warped religious system that would help sustain a gender-biased, self-serving, imbalance of power. Those who are consumed by fear and religious fervor cannot see anything else. It is chaos created within the mind of the terrorist by fear of loss of control over a broken system of values that never was a reflection of the love of God in the first place.
A more difficult question is this: Believing that all is of and all originates from God, how do we view the terrorists? Are they the shadow within the light of God?
