Our grandson will be baptized this Sunday.
He and his parents arrived last night from the west coast.
Great-grandparents, grandparents and uncles and aunts have begun to gather.
More will arrive tomorrow along with a number of friends.
The congregation will gather on Sunday morning.
Some of whom have known my son for most of his life.
We are stacking lives around this little boy.
People who will be there for him and with him.
And, for and with his Mom and Dad as he, and they, grow up.
This, I believe, is how it should be.
Needs to be.
All little boys.
And all little girls…
All growing up boys.
And, all growing up girls.
Need lives stacked around them like we are around Lucas.
On Sunday
Less with water
And, more with the gathered community
We will practice what we preach.
And, what we hope might, one day, be true for each and every child.
We gather as witnesses to love born and surround Lucas in community with Love and welcoming embrace. Congratulations on this special occasion!
