Nativity, 2022 (Ukraine) by Irenaeus Yurchuk
If I am right
And, the Bible is not just about then
But also about now.
And not just about them
But also about you and me,
Then Christ is born
Not just in Bethlehem
But in Kyiv.
And among the Syrian refugees living in camps in Turkey.
And in Myanmar and South Sudan and Afghanistan.
And in refugee camps along our southern border.
Christ is born
In those places and circumstances
Which too easily we say are God forsaken.
And for those who watch and wait
Angels appear
To remind us of the way
And of where and how we are to find the child
And to sing again of God’s Grand Dream of
Peace on Earth.
