It seems that Melania Trump used sections of a speech Michelle Obama made eight years ago. The words from then echoed what she wanted to say now. The ensuing uproar was fast and furious. One side leveling charges of plagiarism. The other side making up excuses to justify and rationalize what had been said. I wonder what would have happened if Melania had just apologized. In person or through one of the campaign’s spokespersons.
But, this is not about Melania Trump and the speech she gave.
But about me.
And, maybe about you.
Why do we find it so hard to say that we were wrong.
That we made a mistake.
That we should not have said or done what we said or did.
Is it our need to be right?
Or, some thread of perfectionism which runs through our heart, mind and soul?
Or, our need to appear in control? At all times. At all cost.
None of us is perfect.
Right?
All of us have made mistakes.
Then, why is it so hard for us to say that out loud?
