We plan for the special moments.
Birthdays.
Anniversaries.
The visit of friends.
A long anticipated trip.
But, in the end, it is the everyday moments which matter the most.
The hand held.
The meal shared.
The game of catch.
The game of cards.
The kiss goodnight.
After all, it is those everyday moments which add up to a lifetime.
Happy Anniversay, Love.
My wife and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary today.
“Who could have imagined…” she said after we had opened the cards we had left for each other to find. Not me, that’s for sure. How could one ever imagine the journey from then to now. More years together than years old we were when we were married. We did our best and are doing our best to figure out life and love as our lives and our life together unfolded in ways we never could have imagined or planned…or even dared hope.
As I get older I realize there is far more I don’t know that what I do know.
But, I do know this.
I would not be who I am today if it were not for her.
It is a gift to be able to say…
We have shared far more joy than tears.
We have much more for which we are grateful than we have regrets.
We have managed to find our way.
And, we still enjoy and still find strength and comfort in walking down the street or towards tomorrow holding hands.
Happy Anniversary, Love.
