Today students across the country will walk out of their schools.
For 17 minutes.
One minute for each of the people who were killed a month ago at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL.
Some will walk out of their schools because it is the thing to do.
Others will do it because it is 17+ minutes to get out of a class.
But some will do it because they understand the importance and seriousness of the moment and the debate in which they are participating.
It is not my position to walk with them.
This is their moment.
But I will do this.
I will support them in whatever way I can.
I will respect their convictions and their courage.
I will do my best to listen to and to learn from them as they seek to put words around their hurt and anger and grief.
And, I will take 17 minutes today.
And turn off my computer.
And ignore the demands of my phone.
And make space in my life for their resolve to strengthen my own.
