Storytelling

This is a week for storytelling.
For the Jewish community celebrating Passover.
And, for the Christian community moving through Holy Week towards Easter. Remembering. Reminding. Rehearsing.

Moses.
Pharaoh.
Plagues.
Escape.
Slavery to freedom.

Palm branches.
Bread broken and cup shared.
Betrayal and denial.
Crucifixion.
Death to life.

The same story told two different ways.
God seeing a different future for us, comes to save us.
From oppression.
From death.
From ourselves.

Most will look around and laugh.
Syria.
Detention centers.
Shooting on the street and in our schools.
Where is God in all that?
But some will hear the story and hold on to them for dear life.
And, in doing so find their way through the waters and discover the stones rolled back and the Dream of God leading the way.
