In Federal Court, an attorneys for the Trump administration admitted that they mistakenly deported Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador where he is now imprisoned, and because he is no longer in US custody they claim they have no recourse in getting him released. While there are court documents concerning his possible involvement in MS-13 gang, a 2019 court order granted him protected status and stated that he was not to be deported. At the time of his arrest on March 15, he was living with his wife, a US citizen, and his child. The attorneys for the Administrative claimed an “administrative error” led to the deportation.
I am a long way from being a lawyer to understand the complexities of the law
But I hope Abrego-Garcia’s family files a lawsuit.
And, with it, finds a way through the legal system to hold those who made the “error” accountable. And, if Kilmar Abrego Garcia dies in prison, I hope the charge against all those involved is something like negligent homicide.
The deportation may have been an “administrative error”
But none of those who approved the action bothered to check.
And worse, they didn’t care.
And, that makes what they did reprehensible.
Absolutely! I just don’t understand how people think that it is okay to let Trump and Musk dismantle our government, deport someone with protected status, trash the Dept. of Ed….the list goes on and on and it is just now April. I am terrified about what will happen in the days to come.
